PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine igniter capable of reducing the electrode abrasion of an ignition plug, saving power consumption, and improving ignitability.SOLUTION: Right after a main ignition CDI circuit 5 starts main ignition, electric charge stored in an energy input capacitor 21 is input to a primary coil 3 to continue a continuous spark discharge subsequent to the main ignition. An energy input circuit 6 controls electric energy input to the primary coil 3, whereby it is possible to prevent a re-discharge due to blowout to reduce the electrode abrasion of an ignition plug 1, suppress power consumption, and exhibit high ignitability. Since a secondary current is continuously supplied in the same direction in the continuous spark discharge subsequent to the main ignition, a secondary voltage does not alternate from positive to negative, a spark discharge is difficult to interrupt, and it is possible to avoid blowout. Moreover, a combination of the main ignition CDI circuit 5 and the energy input circuit 6 can simplify a circuit configuration, thereby making it possible to achieve size reduction and low cost. |
