摘要 350,467. Metal constructional elements; floors; walls; roofs. KOTRBATY, G. F., 580, 5th Avenue, New York, U.S.A. Feb. 25, 1930, No. 6221. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i).] Floors, walls, partitions, roofs, &c. of buildings are built up of box-like metal units which can be keyed together to form a framework of any desired construction. The space inside the units can be filled with any suitable plastic material, or one with heat or soundinsulating properties, and the outside of the units is covered with an appropriate wall, floor, or ceiling- surfacing material. As shown in Fig. 3, each unit comprises wall members 11 spaced and connected by end members 15. The wall members are perforated and are stiffened by integral ribs, rods, or battens 13. They are secured to the end members by pinching up flanges 20, by welding, or other means. The units are abutted, as shown, and connected by resilient keys 21. By varying the length of the wall members 11, corners can be built up. Fig. 16 shows outer and partition walls in horizontal section. As indicated at 18a, pilasters are formed by extending the end members 15. These may enclose wiring or other service pipes 107, embedded in the plastic filling 106. Surface plastering is indicated at 103, 104. Keys 25e of special form are accommodated in certain of the end members 15 to serve as fixing means, for example, for beams 48a carrying outer ornamental woodwork or the like 115. Outside girder or like structures 111, 121 can be connected to the end member flanges by bolts 113. Metal corner beads 110 can be secured to the wall members 11. Fig. 5 shows the units employed for floor construction. The wall members 11 are connected by end members 44 which have interfitting tongues and grooves 43, 42. A concrete or other floor covering 45 keys into the end members as at 46, and ceiling material 49 is similarly keyed as at 50. A wooden floor surface is indicated at 47. Fig. 17 shows a foundation, floor, and wall junction. The foundation comprises units 11 embedded in concrete 151, and the floor comprises units 11 with suitable surfacing 45,47. A metal channel member 161, 162 is superposed on the foundation material 153, and supports the wall units 11. The member 162 is rebated at 164 to provide a thickness guide in applying the plaster 103, 104, and is turned back at 165 to form an air chamber 166 which protects the plaster from rising moisture. Fig. 19 shows the junction of a floor and exterior wall. The channel member 161, 162, and the wall and floor construction units 11, are connected by metal members 197, 201, 207, which are interlocked as shown. The end floor unit 11 may be bent down as indicated at 170, to establish continuity between the.floor concrete 45 and the wall filling 153. A metal picture moulding 199 is hung on a flange 198 of the member 197, and has a flange 214 which is covered by the plaster 104 to hold it in position.
