A computer program, small cell base station and method for selecting an antenna pattern of a small cell to improve the performance of a cellular network. The cellular network comprises a small cell base station providing radio coverage within a small cell, the small cell base station comprising at least one antenna operable to provide radio coverage in one of a plurality of antenna patterns. The method comprises: an exploration stage comprising measuring at least one indication of a performance of the small cell for at least some of the plurality of antenna patterns, the indication of the performance of the small cell comprises at least one of: traffic offload, interference impact and user equipment mobility; and an exploitation stage comprising selecting one of the plurality of antenna patterns in dependence on the measured at least one indication of small cell performance and providing the small cell radio coverage using the at least one antenna configured to generate the selected antenna pattern. |
