The circuit (10) has an opto-electrical converter (13) optically coupled with a fluorescent lamp (12) and shielded from ambient light. The opto-electrical converter converts the light emitted by the lamp into an electrical power. A switching part (14) e.g. relay, is electrically coupled with the opto-electrical converter. The switching part disconnects an electrical load (20) from supply voltage (UV). The switching part connects the electrical load with the supply voltage in a switch-on phase when the switching part is supplied with the electrical power by the opto-electrical converter.
