<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer production method for producing a polymer having high cost-performance, exhibiting good color and having excellent long-term stability. <P>SOLUTION: The polymer production method includes a polymerization step to polymerize a monomer having ethylenic unsaturated bond by adding 0.0001-0.3 pt.mass of a phenolic antioxidant expressed by general formula (1) and masked with an organoaluminum compound and 0.0001-0.3 pt.mass of a phosphorus-based antioxidant to 100 pts.mass of the polymer obtained by the polymerization step in one or more sites selected from a catalyst system, a polymerizing system and piping before or during the polymerization of the monomer; and a melt kneading step to add 0.001-3 pts.mass of the phenolic antioxidant and/or the phosphorus-based antioxidant in total based on 100 pts.mass of the polymer obtained by the polymerization step and melt and knead the polymer.
