The present invention provides a motor driving apparatus, a cleaner including the same, and a control method thereof, capable of removing the harmonics of a current inputted to a single phase BLDC motor without using a predetermined table or a power factor corrector (PFC). According to one embodiment of the present invention, the motor driving apparatus includes an inverter which converts the direction of the current applied to the single phase BLDC motor, and a control unit which controls the inverter to change the direction of the current based on a first voltage corresponding to an effective current among the currents applied to the single phase BLDC motor and a second voltage corresponding to a reactive current among the currents applied to the single phase BLDC motor.
