PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a recording sheet from being wrinkled due to local temperature change, while heating a non-printing area of the recording sheet at a lower temperature than in a printing area, for power saving.SOLUTION: A fixing apparatus includes: a plurality of heating means for heating each of a plurality of areas of a fixing member formed in a main scanning direction; and control means which determines a printing area and a non-printing area for each of the heating areas, in a sub-scanning direction, sets a target temperature for the printing areas to a temperature level 3 required for fixation, and gradually reduces the target temperature for the non-printing areas around the printing areas, to a temperature level 2 and a temperature level 1, to prevent rapid temperature change on a recording sheet. |
