PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation shielding material capable of having a high radiation absorption effect when comparatively inexpensive and safe materials are combined and the weight is comparatively light.SOLUTION: The radiation shielding material has high radiation absorption effect in addition to radiation absorption of a barium titanate nanotube by including a peapod encapsulating iodine having high radiation absorbability or an iodine compound in the barium titanate nanotube even when comparatively inexpensive and safe materials are combined and the weight is comparatively light. Even a composite with an organic compound can be used outdoors without suppressing a function as the photocatalyst of the barium titanate nanotube to decompose the surrounding organic compound by forming the peapod having the surface of the barium titanate nanotube modified by a silane coupling agent. |
