METHOD FOR TREATING TAILINGS USING RED MUD

The present invention relates to a method for treating tailings by utilizing red soil. The method according to the present invention treats tailings generated as a byproduct of mining work, and comprises: a beforehand evaluating step of grasping existence of a cationic material and an anionic material in harmful components of tailings which are an treatment object; and a treating step of performing treatment by selecting a first treating method when anionic contaminants exist according to existence of anionic contaminants in tailings, which has been grasped through the beforehand evaluating step, or by selecting a second treating method when anionic contaminants does not exist. In the first treating method and the second treating method, concentration of harmful components in tailings is obtained by using a waste official test, and red clay is mixed when concentration of harmful components is equivalent to or higher than a contamination standard value, so tailings may be stabilized.
