PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable enhancement of detection precision of an obstacle or a person in collision preventing system and method.SOLUTION: A driver monitoring system 100 has an imaging device for generating plural image signals having information of light exhibiting different optical characteristics, and a signal processor 20 for detecting an obstacle or a person in an image on the basis of at least one image signal of the plural image signals, calculating distance information between the imaging device and the obstacle or person, and determining the risk of collision with the obstacle or person on the basis of the distance information.
