PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment liquid and method for image formation, capable of preventing distortion of paper such as cockling and curl caused by absorption of recording liquid into paper even when printed on a plain paper, so that the reliability in transportation of a medium to be recorded is enhanced, with easy handling of the recorded medium; and an image formation apparatus using the same.SOLUTION: An image formation apparatus 100 of ink jet type includes: recording heads 61Y, 61M, 61C, 61BK, and 61T which discharge an aqueous recording liquid on an intermediate transcript 37; and application means 73 for applying a treatment liquid onto the intermediate transcript 37. The treatment liquid applied on the intermediate transcript 37 by the application means is a W/O emulsion. In the emulsion, at least two types of dispersion phases are present, including a first dispersion phase which contains a water-soluble or water-swellable polymer, and a second dispersion phase which contains at least an ionic reactant for flocculating the polymer. |
