PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of stably and highly accurately executing focus control for a subject.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an imaging element for photoelectrically converting an optical image, generation means for generating a focus signal on the basis of an image signal outputted from the imaging element, detection means for detecting the subject on the basis of the image signal, and control means for performing the focus control on the basis of the focus signal. The control means performs the focus control for the subject on the basis of information on the subject and information on an angle of view.
