This invention relates to drugs for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, and more particularly to medicinal agents with broncholytic action. The present pharmaceutical composition for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases contains theophylline, water, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, and succinic acid or a salt thereof. The invention extends the range of medicinal agents available for the treatment of diseases, and, when used in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, the theophylline-based pharmaceutical composition according to this invention causes fewer side effects and, in particular, has a lower arrhythmogenic effect. |
