PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical coupling structure which enables more efficient optical coupling between layers of a multilayer optical waveguide that enables highly dense optical wiring.SOLUTION: An optical coupling structure includes a lower cladding layer 102 formed on a substrate 101, a first core layer 103 formed on the lower cladding layer 102, an interlayer cladding layer 104 formed on the first core layer 103, a second core layer 105 formed on the interlayer cladding layer 104, and an upper cladding layer 106 formed on the second core layer 105. The structure has a coupling region 107 where the first core layer 103 and second core layer 105 overlap with each other in parallel and where the interlayer cladding layer 104 between the first core layer 103 and second core layer 105 has an intermediate core 108 formed therein. |
