The method involves providing a coating layer (4) that is approximately planar to a storage station so as to format the coating layer to acquire a three-dimensional shape of a garnishing element (1). The coating layer is placed in a garnishing element manufacturing tool (8). A handling tool (10) is arranged to take the coating layer from the station and to place the coating layer in the garnishing element manufacturing tool by conferring its three-dimensional form on the coating layer during transport of the coating layer. An independent claim is also included for a system for manufacturing a garnishing element.
