[Class 60] [Also in Group XXII] A protection device for the guideways of grinding and like machine tools of the kind in which metallic coverplates extending the length of the bed project into a slot provided in a carriage and are fixed at the interior of the bed forming a pair of angularly disposed faces substantially parallel to the faces of the guideways is characterized in that the coverplates extend upwardly and outwardly into a curved slot in the carriage. The covers 3 extend the full length of the bed 2 and are secured by bolts 4 at spaced intervals along its length to projecting lugs on the inside of the bed. Gaps between the lugs allow foreign matter to fall through to the inside of the bed. The covers are of such rigidity and thickness as to protect the guideways against damage through bodies falling thereon. |
