[Class 46.] A strainer system for collecting filtrate and supplying wash water in filter beds comprises a longitudinal channel a, Fig. 1, covered with preformed concrete or like blocks or tiles b to which lateral strainer pipes e are secured. The outer ends of the pipes e open into channels p. The tiles b may be of inverted U -form with flanges c. An air-supply pipe i with connections k may be arranged above the tiles.
