PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform seamless monitoring while widening an interval between imaging means.SOLUTION: A monitoring system 1 includes: a first camera 11 and a second camera 12 which are provided in such a manner that an imaging area is rotatable; a rotation control section 13 for controlling rotations of the cameras 11 and 12; a display control section 14 for displaying a part of images captured by the cameras 11 and 12 on a display section 21 as a visible area V; and a scan receiving section 22 for receiving scan of the visible area V. The cameras 11 and 12 are disposed while being separated from each other in a direction of rotation in such a manner that imaging areas at reference positions are discontinued and imaging areas at maximum rotating positions are continued. When the visible area V is scanned toward a discontinued area R beyond an imaging area S1 at the reference position of the first camera 11 by the scan receiving section 22, the rotation control section 13 rotates the cameras 11 and 12 in such a direction that imaging areas S1 and S2 approach each other, cooperatively with movement of the visible area V.
