<p>The hinge has a stroke mechanism with a piston (3) and a cylinder for moving two hinge arms (1, 2) from a pivoting position of the hinge arms to a distant position, where the pivoting position corresponds to a closed position of an engine bonnet. The piston is held at the distant position from the cylinder by a detachable friction-fit or form-fit connection to the cylinder. The detachability of the friction-fit or form-fit connection absorbs kinetic energy of a pedestrian caught in the engine bonnet, by a braked displacement from the distant position into the pivoting position.</p> |
