Disclosed are a bipolar plate for a fuel cell and method of manufacturing the bipolar plate. The bipolar plate comprises: (1) a substrate and (2) a conductive structural component. The resistivity of the substrate is greater than 1x10-4 Ω·m; a gas flow channel is provided on the surface of the substrate; a frame is provided on the edges of the substrate; and an opening is provided on the frame for access of homopolar gas. The conductive structural component is integrated with the substrate to form an assembly, and the resistivity of the assembly is equal to or less than 1x10-4 Ω·m. The bipolar plate for a fuel cell is made from cheap and easily available materials having poor conductivity and not meeting the requirements of the United States Department of Energy, but the finished bipolar plate completely meets the requirements. Thus, the present invention enlarges the range of material selection for a bipolar plate and greatly reduces bipolar plate manufacturing cost, while improving the performance thereof. |
