The invention relates to a method for preparing a photoactive layer on a substrate, the photoactive layer comprising a photoactive organic substance and further a fullerene, the method comprising providing an aqueous dispersion of the photoactive organic substance and the fullerene, and depositing the organic substance and the fullerene on a surface of the substrate to form the photoactive layer.
