[Class 18.] Glass plates are joined to form a showcase or like receptacle by members 7 engaging undercut recesses ground or otherwise formed in the plates and connected by tension wires 30, 32 with screwed nipples. The members are provided with arms forming hinged extensions 34 for the cover. A layer of elastic packing is interposed between the members and the glass. The wires may be let into grooves in the glass and may be tensioned by winding on a stem which is secured by a lock nut 49<1>, Fig. 15. The connecting members may consist of two blocks 17, 18, Fig. 6, secured in a recess in the plates by an inserted conical member 23 on a plate which is rotated and secured by screws 25.
