A lateral rear structure of a vehicle comprising at least one lateral door for accessing the passenger compartment on the same lateral side as said structure. The structure is characterised in that it comprises at least one lateral crossmember (2) which extends between a rear pillar (3) of the opening of the door (7) and the rear face of the vehicle and to which at least one support (4) is secured that is intended to receive means of retaining the passengers or other objects contained within the vehicle.
