<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion device that protects a load and a power supply against an insulation deterioration due to an excessive surge voltage. <P>SOLUTION: A switching element series circuit having an AC terminal U at a series junction of switching elements Qu, Qx is connected to both ends of a DC voltage supply series circuit having a neutral terminal M at a series junction of DC voltage supplies 1a, 1b, a bidirectional switch Sux is connected between the neutral terminal M and the AC terminal U, and a filter circuit comprising a series connection of a reactor Lf and a capacitor Cf is connected.
