PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system in which a smartphone can quickly receive changes in the status of a control target device corresponding to a control instruction.SOLUTION: An HEMS controller 700 repeatedly transmits a predetermined signal to a control target device 900 at set time intervals in order to detect changes in the status of the control target device 900. When the status is changed, the HEMS controller 700 notifies a smartphone 300 of the status after the change, via a server device 100. When the server device 100 receives from the smartphone 300 a control instruction for controlling the operation of the control target device 900 in a state that the time interval is set to an interval C, the HEMS controller 700 transmits the control instruction to the control target device 900. The HEMS controller 700 sets the time interval to an interval P shorter than the interval C on the basis of the fact that the control instruction has been transmitted to the control target device 900.
