PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure design method that can obtain a honeycomb structure capable of efficiently purifying the exhaust gas by uniformizing the flow rate distribution of exhaust gas.SOLUTION: A honeycomb structure 1 includes a plurality of cell holes 112 and 122. The honeycomb structure 1 includes a columnar inner substrate 11 where the formation densities of the cell holes 112 are constant, and an outer substrate 12 where the formation densities of the cell holes 122 formed outside the inner substrate 11 change in the radial direction. In the honeycomb structure 1, the number y of the cell holes formed per 1 cmat a distance x from the center P on the outer substrate 12 is obtained by a relational expression: y=a(x-b)+c, and the outer substrate 12 is formed based on the number y of the cell holes 122. |
