PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that, at cold start (at low-temperature start), in driving at a highland of a high altitude or in using fuel of a low cetane number, a combustion state becomes unstable and misfire is easily caused.SOLUTION: An engine apparatus of the invention comprises an engine 1, a motor generator 74 functioning as an electric power generator and an electric motor, and a battery 76 connected to the motor generator 74. The engine apparatus is configured such that driving force of the engine 1 can be assisted with the electric motor action of the motor generator 74 by the electric power of the battery 76 and the battery 76 can be charged under the electric power generator action of the motor generator 74 by the driving force of the engine 1. The engine apparatus is configured such that, when a fluctuation time &Dgr;T, in which engine rotation speed N fluctuates beyond a reference fluctuation width WO, is equal to or longer than a determination time &Dgr;TO, drive of the motor generator 74 is started. |
