A device for identifying a set of duplicate digital images from amongst a plurality of digital images accessible from a plurality of data stems, the device including a computer processor configured to be communicably coupled with the plurality of data stores and configured; for identifying the set of duplicate digital Images by reference to: (i) a determination of similarity In physical attributes associated with the digital images within the plurality of digital Images; (ii) a determination of similarity in metadata values associated with the digital images within the plurality of digital images; (iii) a determination of similarity in visual regions represented by the digital images within tie plurality of digital images; and wherein the device is further configured for identifying sand deleting digital images from amongst the plurality of digital images which are classified as junk digital images, whereby a Junk digital image is identified where; a) a face is not detected in a digital image; b) no location data is detected representing a location at which the digital image was captured, or, information representing a location at which the digital image was captured is not a location at which the user has visited; c) no word information is associated with the digital image; and/or d) the digital image is not a digital image that has been captured by a digital image capture device of the user. |
