PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust a volume of a combustion chamber with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A cylinder head 200 includes recessed portions 204 constituting a part of a combustion chamber of an engine, and mating faces to a cylinder block, the recessed portions 204 have a plurality of openings in which a plurality of specific members are respectively mounted, and the mating faces 202 have cutting margins to three-dimensional shape data of the cylinder head 200 designed to have a target volume of the combustion chamber. In a method of adjusting a volume of the combustion chamber, the surface shape of the recessed portions and the shape of the mating face around the recessed portion are measured by continuously changing a laser beam irradiating position by using a line laser displacement meter. The measured data and the three-dimensional shape data are compared with each other, and data on regions corresponding to the plurality of openings is eliminated from the measurement data. A volume of the recessed portions 204 is calculated on the basis of the measurement data after the elimination, and the calculated volume of the recessed portions 204 and the volume of the recessed portions 204 based on the three-dimensional shape data are compared with each other to determine a cutting amount of the mating faces 202. |
