<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove manganese to a lower concentration with a double layer manganese catalyst depending on fluctuating manganese concentrations in row water. <P>SOLUTION: An apparatus for oxidizing manganese 14 circulates water to be treated added with an oxidizer through a catalyst filled layer 16 in an upward flow to oxidize and remove manganese in the water to be treated. The catalyst filled layer 16, which is a multiple-layered structure, includes: an upper layer 16-1 of the catalyst filled layer containing a catalyst small in sedimentation velocity determined from the specific gravity and average diameter, and swift in manganese oxidization rate; and a lower layer 16-2 containing a catalyst large in sedimentation velocity determined from the specific gravity and average diameter, and slow in manganese oxidization rate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
