[Class 108 (i)] In sliding panels for roof apertures of vehicles in which the panel when closed is flush with the fixed part of the roof the runways or runners for the sliding panel are curved upwardly where. they emerge from beneath the fixed part of the roof. The sliding panel is provided with felt-lined runners at its forward and rear edges to engage two sets of guides, of which the rear guide beneath the fixed part of the roof is bent upwardly as it emerges from beneath the fixed part to raise the sliding panel as it emerges so that its upper surface is level with that of the upper surface of the fixed part of the roof. The roof top comprises edge boards 11 ... 14 to which are secured battens 15, supporting the guides 24, 25 and 27, 28. The felt-lined runners 39 are channel-shaped and are pivotally secured to the rear of the panel to enable them to ride up the upturned portion 26 of the rear guides and lift the panel. At the front the panel is provided with blocks 41 to which may be secured plates 42 underriding the guide 28 upon which leaf springs 43, secured to the panel, bear.
