<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device which can reduce surge current and also can cut down losses, and a lighting apparatus provided with the lighting device. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 5 controls on-off of first and second select switches 61 and 62 to select the impedance value of a surge reduction circuit 6 between a DC power supply circuit 3 and a light-emitting element 20. The control unit 5 discriminates between a full lighting mode and a modulated lighting mode according to the presence/absence of a PWM signal which drives a switching element 4 during the modulated lighting mode and selects the most suitable impedance value according to these lighting modes. In other words, the control unit 5 increases the impedance of the surge reduction circuit 6 to cut down a surge current during the modulated lighting mode and reduces the impedance of the surge reduction circuit 6 to cut down losses during the full lighting mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
