An apparatus for holding the hulls of light water craft, such as boats, yachts, launches, light torpedo boats, sea planes and flying boats during welding or other building or repairing operations comprises one or more beams partly or wholly supported on one or more bearing rings co-acting with rotatable rollers arranged at the circumference thereof so that the hull may be readily turned into a convenient position for performing the desired operation thereon. The boat &c. may be constructed of metal, timber or other non- metallic material or combinations of non- metallic material with similar material or with metals. The keel 15 may be secured by clamp 14 fixed to, or adjustable on, a beam 2 and the hull 1 clamped on adjustable rests 16 on the beam 2, which is rotatably adjustable. The beam may be straight, inclined, or curved or may be channel-shaped, as shown, with integral or other ends carrying trunnions 5, 5a mounted in bearings in pedestals 6, 6a and adjusted by worm or other gear 9 by a hand wheel 13 or motor. The beam is also attached to a bearing ring 18 resting on rollers 19. A single trunnion and bearing ring engaging flanged rollers may be used or the trunnions may be dispensed with and two or more bearing rings used which may be secured to the beam and rotated by driving one of the rollers 19. The rollers and bearing rings may be toothed. A number of beams carrying clamps for different parts of the work may be secured to the rings and if desired, one of the beams may be mounted on trunnions. |
