An apparatus comprising first and second ferromagnetic free layers separated by a non-magnetic spacer, a first ferromagnetic free layer configured as a lamination of first and second sub-layers respectively having different stripe heights measured from an air bearing surface (ABS) and different low and high magnetic moments regions, the first sub-layer positioned proximal the ABS and having a greater magnetic moment than the second sub-layer that continually extends from the ABS to proximal a bias magnet positioned distal the ABS, the low magnetic moment region of the first ferromagnetic free layer disposed between a non-magnetic spacer layer and the high magnetic moment region of the first ferromagnetic free layer, each ferromagnetic free layer biased to a default magnetization by a bias magnet positioned distal the ABS, a second ferromagnetic free layer continuously extending from the ABS to proximal the bias magnet distal the ABS. |
