摘要 Provided are a method and a device for encoding a multi-track video into a scalable video using fast motion estimation, which enable high-speed intra-layer and inter-layer motion estimation by exploiting motion information about an existing multi-track video, when two or more multi-track videos compressed relative to an original video are converted and encoded into an SVC video, thereby speeding up motion estimation having the highest computational load in video encoding, and consequently, improving a conversion speed into a scalable video. A video encoding device according to the present invention extracts macroblock partition information and motion vector information by performing bitstream decoding of two inputted videos adjacent to a multi-track video, determines whether the macroblock partition information is identical with partition information of a macroblcok to be encoded based on the extracted information, compares the pieces of motion information thereof if the pieces of partition information are identical with each other, encodes the macroblock in an inter-layer motion prediction mode if the pieces of motion information are identical with each other, and encode the macroblock in a motion prediction mode, which performs encoding in an encoding mode of a current macroblock, or in an SVC intra prediction mode if the pieces of partition information are not identical or the pieces of motion information are not identical.
