A system for enhancing vision inside an aircraft cockpit (10) includes a primary display system (34) configured to receive the signals related to flight data (33) and display visual representations based on the flight data (33). The system for enhancing vision also includes a supplemental display system (58), including a mask (60) configured to provide a substantially sealed barrier between a wearer of the mask (60) and at least one of smoke and fumes in the cockpit (10). The supplemental display system (58) also includes a video display device (62) associated with the mask (60). The video display device (62) is configured to receive the signals related to the flight data and display the visual representations based on the flight data (33), wherein the video display device (62) is associated with the mask (60) such that the wearer of the mask (60) is able to see the visual representations based on the flight data (33) displayed by the video display device (62).
