摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining the number of organisms within an IR image for separating a person from a surrounding background.SOLUTION: For each pixel within an IR image, a total of N luminance values are collected for processing to determine a person (502). Luminance values of pixels are collected by an IR imaging system (502). When the luminance values are collected, each pixel within the IR image is processed to determine classification of the pixel. Processing of pixel luminance generates ratio of luminance values of pixels and the ratio allows a threshold to be formed (506). The threshold is used to classify a pixel as a person or those other than the person (508). When all the pixels are classified (510NO), the total number of persons within the IR image is determined based on the pixel classification (512).
