PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device which can irradiate an area thin and extending toward the front side with light, is of high illumination quality and is compact.SOLUTION: An illumination device 10 is mounted on a ceiling in an automobile cabin. A prism lens 60 arranged at the light emission side of a light emitting element 40 comprises a planar incidence plane 66 which irradiation light emitted by the light emitting element 40 enters, planar reflection planes 61, 63 which reflect the incidence light entering from the incidence plane 66, and a planar light emitting plane 67 which refracts the reflected light reflected by the reflection planes 61, 63, to emit it as emitting light. The reflection plane 61 reflects the incidence light entering from the incidence plane 66 to the light emitting plane 67. The reflection plane 63 faces the reflection plane 61, reflects, to the light emitting plane 67, the incidence light entering the incidence plane 66 at the front side of an optical axis LA of the light emitting element 40, and the optical axis PA of the prism lens 60 is inclined with respect to the optical axis LA of the light emitting element 40. |
