The component has a partially transparent protection layer comprising a colorless foil provided with an adhesive film, where the component is made of pigmented plastic or transparent thermoplastic such as polyolefin, polycarbonate or polyacrylate. The adhesive film is provided with a pressure sensitive adhesive. The component and the foil are guided between two rubber elastic walls that are formed at an upper surface, where the foil is affixed on the component. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a vehicle component.
