A method for controlling a drinking water cooler according to the present invention includes the steps of: driving a compressor with preset cooling power and performing a deicing process by circulating a refrigerant along a deicing refrigerant path; driving the compressor with the lower cooling power; separating the deiced ice; and circulating the refrigerant along a cold water refrigerant path when the ice is separated.
