The present invention relates to a display device and a manufacturing method thereof. The display device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an insulating substrate; a thin film transistor disposed on the insulating substrate; a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor; a first alignment layer disposed on the pixel electrode; a second alignment layer spaced apart from the first alignment layer by a microcavity; a common electrode disposed on the second alignment layer; a roof layer formed on the common electrode; a liquid crystal inlet formed on the common electrode and the roof layer to expose some of the microcavity; a liquid crystal layer filling the microcavity; and an overcoat formed on the roof layer to cover the liquid crystal inlet and seal the microcavity, wherein each of the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer include multiple heterogeneous layers.
