Mobile device workload management for cloud computing using SIP and presence to control workload and method thereof

A method is implemented in a computer infrastructure having computer executable code tangibly embodied on a computer readable storage medium having programming instructions. The programming instructions are operable to manage workload for cloud computing by transferring workload to at least one mobile device using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).

A computer program product for distributed network computing using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), the computer program product comprising a computer readable storage device having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions executable by a computing device to cause the computing device to:
register at least one mobile device with a IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network using IMS semantics via an SIP registration process; register the at least one mobile device with a presence server using information packaged in a presence document, wherein the information comprises device status and presence of the at least one mobile device; receive the information from the presence server at a distributed network; process the information at the distributed network for future workload management decisions; manage workload for distributed network computing by utilizing the processed information to determine whether the at least one mobile device is available to process the workload, and sending via the IMS network using SIP a workload request to the at least one mobile device in the form of a presence notification, wherein the presence notification includes data for retrieving the workload; upload instructions and content for the workload to a content cache from the distributed network; and perform the workload on the at least one mobile device after downloading the instructions and the content from the content cache to the at least one mobile device.
