A projector of the present invention includes: a light source; an illumination lens unit which comprises at least one lens forming an illuminating light for forming an image by shaping and collecting an optical beam irradiated from the light source; a display device for forming an image by modulating the incident illuminating light according to a signal; a projection lens unit which comprises one or more lenses to project the image formed by the display device on a screen; a field lens which has a positive refractive index for focusing the illuminating light on the display device, and comprises a first lens plane where the illuminating light is incident and a second lens plane where the image formed in the display device is incident; and a reflection member which changes a path of the illuminating light passing through the illumination lens unit to a direction toward the field lens. The first lens plane has a shape of reflecting a part of the illuminating light to a path avoiding the projection lens unit.
