The circuit (20) has a releasing unit (38) initiating ignition process of an ignition unit (22) using a reference voltage connection (PE). A protection unit (58) is provided in addition with an electrical connection for locking the releasing unit depending upon a connection parameter, where electrical connection is produced for the reference voltage connection. The protection unit is formed partially as component of the releasing unit, and exhibits a locking unit for locking the releasing unit.
