<p>Water based intumescent fireproofing formulations are provided that exhibit excellent fireproofing properties while simultaneously significantly reducing and/or eliminating the potential for VOC release and exhibiting excellent hangability properties. The intumescent fireproofing formulation includes a coalescent that significantly reduces and/or eliminates the potential for VOC release and fiber constituents e.g. fibers of greater than 0.2 mm in length. Exemplary coalescents have a boiling point of at least 180°C and include bis(2 ethylhexanoate) triethyleneglycol and 2 2 4 trimethyl l 3 pentanediolmono(2 methylproponate). Intumescent fireproofing formulations are also provided that include clay to further improve performance.</p> |
