[Class 52 (iv)] [Also in Group VII] A fastening particularly adapted for use in tufting mattresses &c. and applicable also for wearing apparel comprises a head member 100, Figs. 1 and 4, through which a loop of twine 120 is threaded, adapted to be passed through an apertured member 110 and then turned through an angle to engage it with a recess in the top of the apertured member, projections 104, on the head member, occupying the aperture. The head member may be elliptical in shape, as shown in Fig. 6, and the members may have complementary ribs and grooves 113, 103, Fig. 1. These projections may provide resilient engagement to retain the parts in position of use. A cord 414, Fig. 8, may be accommodated in an enlarged bore 413 at the end of a curved slot 412 in the head member, or it may fit in a groove in the outer face of the head member and be gripped therein when the head member flexes in engaging with the other member. A flexible tape tie may be secured by adhesive in the head member. The head member may be placed in a recess in the tail or point of a tufting needle for passing it through a mattress and through an apertured member. |
