The invention relates to a filter (1) for the lubricating oil of an internal combustion engine, wherein the filter (1) can be mounted on a connection flange (60) of the internal combustion engine and has a cup-shaped screw-on housing (3) and a filter insert (4) which is exchangeably arranged in the screw-on housing (3) and which separates an untreated oil side (11) from a clean oil side (12) of the filter (1), wherein the filter (1) has at least one eccentric inlet opening (20) and a central outlet opening (21), and wherein the filter (1) has a seal (31) arranged radially to the outside of the at least one eccentric inlet opening (20), by means of which seal the filter (1) can be sealed against the connection flange (60). The filter according to the invention is characterized in that the screw-on housing (3), in the connection flange-side face end region thereof, has, in the circumferential wall (30) thereof, a narrowing (32) of the inner diameter, in that, on the radially inner side of the narrowing (32), the screw thread is formed as an internal thread (33), in that an axially outwardly pointing side, situated in the screw-on housing (3), of the narrowing (32) forms an axial support surface (35) for the seal (31), in that the internal thread (33) of the screw-on housing (3) or a counterpart thread (23, 64') has, for this purpose, as viewed over the circumference thereof, at least two mutually spaced-apart thread interruptions (34), and in that the filter insert (4) has an arrangement of legs (44) corresponding in terms of position and number to the thread interruptions (34), which legs, as radial positioning means for the filter insert (4) in the screw-on housing (3), extend axially from the filter insert (4) into or through the thread interruptions (34). The invention also relates to a filter insert (4) which interacts with a filter (1) of the above-stated type. |
