<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead acid battery including a lightweight negative electrode plate which can be used even in an idling stop vehicle, or the like, and exhibits excellent heavy load life performance. <P>SOLUTION: The lead acid battery includes a positive electrode plate produced by filling squares of a positive electrode grid with a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode plate produced by filling squares of a negative electrode grid with a negative electrode active material, and an electrolyte. The negative electrode active material of the lead acid battery has a density after formation of 4.3-5.0 g/cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>, and contains 1-3 mass% of carbon. The effective diameter of the squares is 10-16 mm which is determined by dividing four times of the aperture area of the square of the negative electrode plate by the boundary length of the square. A lightweight negative electrode plate which can be used even in an idling stop vehicle, or the like, and exhibits excellent heavy load life performance can be obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
