<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark ignition internal combustion engine that can improve ignition and efficiency when igniting using plasma. <P>SOLUTION: The spark ignition internal combustion engine ignites an air-fuel mixture by generating the plasma by reacting a spark discharge generated by a negative high voltage applied via an ignition coil between a center electrode and an earth electrode of an ignition plug with a magnetic field for plasma generated in a combustion chamber.
