Systems, apparatuses, and methods for treating tissue and controlling stenosis

Systems, delivery devices, and methods to treat to ablate, damage, or otherwise affect tissue. The treatment systems are capable of delivering a coolable ablation assembly that ablates targeted tissue without damaging non-targeted tissue. The coolable ablation assembly damages nerve tissue to temporarily or permanently decrease nervous system input. The system, delivery devices, and methods can damage tissue and manage scarring and stenosis.

1. A method of treating a subject, comprising:
positioning an ablation assembly with respect to an airway of the subject, wherein the ablation assembly comprises a plurality of energy emitting elements spaced circumferentially about from each other about and axially from each other along a longitudinal axis of the ablation assembly; and causing energy to be emitted from the ablation assembly to target regions of the airway to create a plurality of axially spaced apart discrete lesions, each lesion extending only partially around a circumference of the airway, wherein an arc length about the circumference of at least one lesion at least partially overlaps with an arc length about the circumference of at least one other lesion of the plurality of lesions.
